At the End of the RainBow

Every year since I've started gardening I've grown carrots.  In the beginning it was whatever generic orange carrots a stumbled on but, now that I've discovered the myriad of gorgeous colors and types available I can't go back to just orange.
Growing a variety of colored carrots for me is not just about the beauty I'm a big fan of restoring more variety in the vegetables in our lives.  Personally I've never seen anything but orange carrots at the grocery store how dull.  I've found in growing colorful carrots many sceptics who believe I am straying from my organic goals and planting some crazy GMO carrots.  Sadly this is just a result I believe of that boring orange supermarket carrot craze.

How to roast squash

Roasting squash is one of those things that is scary at first but so simple once you know how, this method should work on most types of winter squash.

Until we meet again......

Well fall is here and I have failed yet again to maintain this blog but, I have had a wonderful productive garden this year.

First Day of Spring

My Tomato Variety this Year 2012

First Day of Spring yesterday and I feel like my garden is already off and running even if the actual garden outside is not so  much.  Started the first of my tomatoes on Saturday (March 17th) this is my first time growing tomatoes from seed so fingers crossed.  I've given them a nice warming mat to keep them warm

Starting Seeds Indoors

Okay here's the deal, starting seeds inside can seem a little daunting.  I won't lie there are risks involved, life and death hang in the balance but it is completely possible and magical so try it.  There are so many good reasons for starting you seeds yourself.  For starters it's a money saver and who these days doesn't want a money saver?

Spring Soon.........ish

Well spring is on its way, although it is hard to tell outside with this last little bout of snow and yuck.  I've been a bad blogger but to be fair as I reflect I think winter is not really the best time to start a blog about growing food.
A couple of weeks ago I finally embarked on  my first starting seeds indoors venture, and I must say they are doing remarkable, nothing boosts once confidence like things thriving.

Just Planning and Wishing and Dreaming........

The first of the seed catalogs arrived from Veseys Seeds a couple of weeks ago. As my gardening experience grows I enjoy more and more sitting quietly in the cold months picking out what I will grow in the coming years.
